Greenwin is proud to have hosted the 5th annual Tastes and Sounds of Jane & Finch event this weekend, a vibrant celebration of the diverse spirit of the Jane and Finch community. Created and hosted by Greenwin, this event showcases the multiculturalism that makes the Jane and Finch community unique. With a focus on equality, inclusion, and diversity, the event aims to create positive change, raising funds for the San Romanoway Revitalization Association (SRRA).
The SRRA is a charitable organization committed to creating a sense of belonging in the community by supporting families, individuals, and groups. They take a proactive approach to community safety, involving a variety of stakeholders in their efforts to build a safer and healthier environment. The SRRA's programming includes summer day camps, breakfast and after-school assistance for children and youth, educational and empowerment sessions, and seniors' lunch programs. This model exemplifies how public-private partnerships can foster a more connected community, leading to a greater positive impact through insight-based support services and programming.
One of the highlights of the event was the distribution of laptops as part of our Laptops for Learning program. This program, rooted in our belief that no child should fall behind in their education due to a lack of resources, aims to bridge the digital divide for students facing challenges with remote learning. At this year's event, we proudly distributed over 150 laptops to students, adding to the more than 1,000 devices already provided through this initiative. These laptops, donated by Greenwin Corp. and our community partners, are crucial in ensuring that every student has the tools they need to succeed in and outside of the classroom.
Mayor Chow also stopped by the event to show her support and say a few words, underscoring the importance of community-driven initiatives and the positive impact they can have on neighbourhoods like Jane and Finch.
At Greenwin, we believe in the power of community collaboration. By working together, we can break down barriers and create an inclusive environment that strengthens the local economy, builds trust, and promotes mutual respect. Our goal is to support the growth of a vibrant, connected community for all.
A special thank you goes out to this year’s sponsors and community partners, Mosaic Transit Group, Durante’s No Frills, SmartCentres, and Toronto Police Services 31 Division. We would also like to thank everyone who participated and look forward to continuing our efforts to make a positive impact in the Jane and Finch community.
